Dr. Lee is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in the medical and surgical management of vitreoretinal diseases. His expertise includes age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, retinal tears, retinal detachments, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, inherited retinal diseases, and ocular inflammation.
Εducation & Τraining
Dr. Lee completed his undergraduate education at the University of Virginia, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Biology as an Echols Scholar. He went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Dr. Lee completed an internship and an ophthalmology residency at the West Virginia University Eye Institute, where he achieved the highest score in the Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program (OKAP) and was honored with the Best Resident Research Award. He then completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the USC Roski Eye Institute, gaining advanced training in retinal surgery and care.

Dr. Lee has an extensive background in research, having conducted numerous projects throughout his career. His research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, and he has presented his work at notable international conferences, including the Retina Society, the Retina Fellows Forum, the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO). His dedication to advancing retinal care earned him recognition as one of the ‘Rising Stars in Retina’ in the October 2023 issue of Retina Today. Dr. Lee was honored by his peers as a California Super Doctor Rising Star, a recognition awarded to only 2.5% of Southern California Physicians, as listed in a special publication distributed with the January 2026 issue of the Los Angeles Times.
Professional Memberships & Personal Interests
As an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists, Dr. Lee continues to contribute to the field of retinal disease management. Outside of his professional work, he enjoys playing tennis and cooking traditional Korean cuisine. He is fluent in both Korean and English, allowing him to connect with a diverse patient population.
